Accidents at Work

Accidents at Work

No matter what your line of work, your employer has a duty of care to provide you with a safe working environment, to provide you with adequate training and the right tools to do the job you are employed to do, and to adhere to health and safety regulations. If you have sustained an injury as a result of your employer's failure to provide a safe working environment or if you are using tools that you have not been trained to use and you sustain an injury as a result, you may be entitled to claim compensation.

Accidents in the workplace are unfortunately all too common. Whether you work on an oil rig or in an office, your employer is legally obligated to tell you about health and safety issues and potential risks that may affect you, as well as obligated to report accidents and incidents within a timeframe. All employees should be aware of their rights; if your employer was at fault for an accident that you suffered in the workplace in the past three years then you could be eligible for accident compensation.

Perhaps you were given inadequate protective clothing when operating machinery at work and suffered an injury as a result; perhaps your work entails hazardous substances that were not appropriately stored or handled in the workplace; or perhaps - as is common - your inadequate work station at your office has affected your back, muscles or sight. Even slips, trips and falls at work can result in a successful compensation claim if it was as a result of your employer's negligence in their duty of care.
