Claim Amounts

Claim amounts

How much money could you get?

The amount of compensation that you can claim for will depend on your type of injury and therefore the type of claim. When it comes to compensation claims, injury types are broadly divided into the following categories:

Head injury
One of the most serious of injuries, brain damage is assessed in terms of its level (minor, moderate or severe). This category covers head injury suffered as a result of epilepsy.
Psychiatric damage
This can be a complex area of personal injury due to the many differing types. The extent of the psychiatric damage will be assessed and this will affect the compensation amount. This category also covers Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Chronic Pain Syndrome and similar conditions.
Injury to the senses
These injuries can range from a loss of smell or taste through to complete deafness or blindness. Factors such as the severity of the injury and the ramifications on everyday life will affect the claim amount.
Injuries to internal organs
This is a broad category that includes any injury to a major internal organ. In cases of damage to the reproductive system, the scales of compensation for women are slightly higher than for men. Claims for Asbestos-related illnesses such as Asbestiosis and Mesothelioma come under this category.
Orthopaedic injuries
The broadest category, orthopaedic injuries cover those suffered to the spine, to joints and to muscles.
Facial injuries
The compensation scale for facial injuries suffered by women can reach a higher level than for men.

The list below gives examples of the sorts of amounts you can expect to receive in compensation for different types of injury.
