Food Poisoning Claims

Cases of food poisoning that arise from someone's negligence could entitle the sufferer to claim for compensation. It's estimated that 500,000 people in the UK alone suffer from serious cases of food poisoning every year, with millions more suffering less severe food poisoning symptoms such as vomiting, fever, stomach cramps and diarrhoea. While in most cases symptoms are alleviated after a few days, there are some instances of food poisoning that are far more serious and a number of people in at-risk categories such as the very young and very old die from infections such as E-coli and Salmonella every year.

The Food Safety Act was passed in 1990 which set out strict guidelines as to how food should be stored, handled, sold and served, in part to help stem the increasing number of instances of food poisoning. Restaurants, food manufacturers and sellers all have to adhere to the Act by law. If you have suffered from food poisoning and you believe it may have been as a direct result of the negligence of a restaurant, food store or manufacturer, then find out if you have a food poisoning claim that could result in compensation. If successful, you could be compensated for your suffering and distress as well as any time off work or medical treatment you had to have as a result.

Food poisoning claims can happen at home or abroad, but just because you fell ill overseas does not mean you are not entitled to claim compensation when you return home, providing you feel strongly that you know the source of your food poisoning and that negligence was to blame. Cases do of case vary, so call one of the Claim-Easy team for more information.
