Knee Injuries

Knee Injuries

Knee injuries often involve twisting, stretching or hyperextension of the joints - where the joint is forced through a greater range of motion than it can tolerate. Cases of hyperextension or acute hyperflexion, where the muscles and tendons surrounding the knee are damaged, are termed as strains. Twisting of the knee damages the cartilage, causing the ligaments that try to hold the knee in place to tear; these are termed as sprains. Sprains are termed as grade one (the ligament is stretched but not torn); grade two (the ligament is partially torn but still intact); and grade three (the ligament is torn to such an extent that it is no longer intact). Direct blows to the knee can causes bursitis - inflammation of the bursas.

Given the central and vital positioning of the knee on the leg, its proper function is vital for our mobility. Even minor knee injuries such as localised pain and swelling can cause great inconvenience when it affects the ability to move around. Therefore, if you have had any sort of knee injury, even minor, arising from an accident at work, a slip, trip and fall in a public place or a road traffic accident - in fact in any situation which was not your fault - then you should consider claiming for personal injury compensation. More severe injuries will of course require more extensive medical treatment, often involving surgery, increased rehabilitation and therefore time off work, more pain and loss of function of the knee. All of these factors will lead to a higher level of compensation then less serious injuries, but even moderate injuries where there is complete recovery can still give rise to substantial compensation. So if your knee has been injured in any way and you think you may have a case for a claim, then contact Claim-Easy to find out more.
